Happy Mothers Day if that's you, I thought I'd send out the bird gallery early this week so that I had time to celebrate with my family.

Got some fun ones today to share. Lots of birds taking baths since that's where I put the camera, though there's a few high stepping doves tossed in for good measure.

I have seen lots of white crowned sparrows (they are relentless--out there all day everyday poking around into everything), but if the pattern from the last year holds, they'll soon be on their way to somewhere else. If they do move on, they'll be back this Fall.

Enjoy and Happy Mothers Day tomorrow!

A robin perched on the edge of a birdbath looking at the camera.
Basking in the sun and getting a drink. Robins sure love their water: they're fastidious in their bathing and drink like sailors.

Another robin at another bird bath.
This is not the same robin as above, I have several that come by on a daily basis.

High Steppin!

A starling in mid bath. Feathers out and ruffled.
Another group that really loves their water: starlings. I at least have read a theory about this one. These are cavity nesters (there's a light pole down the street from me with a missing cover and they set up shop in there every year) who reuse nests and are thus deviled by mites, etc. Washing helps.

A white crowned sparrow looking down into the birdbath.
Of course, on the day when I'm running late I have to drop my keys!
